4th grade has been learning about rocks and minerals. On Friday, they started the process of creating their own rock candy! They have observed the changes over the last couple of days as the crystals started forming. 5 days from the initial start day, they finally were able to taste their homemade candy!

First grade's Student of the Week for the week of January 23 is Josiah! He likes to learn, go to gym, play basketball, and play with his brothers! When he grows up he wants to be a policeman!
We have our final 4 classroom spelling bee winners; 5th-graders, Tilly & Mason, and 6th-graders, Victoria & Althea. They will join the others to compete in the school spelling bee on Feb. 2nd.

The Empower Illinois app process is broken into 2 parts- reservation & application. Reservations open at 6:30 PM on 1/18, so you can add info before submitting at 7 PM.

This week preschool read the Bible story The Tower of Babel. After the story, they used red plastic cups to build towers while working in teams.

The first Art Club for K-4 meeting was a success!
In Kindergarten, we have a Win-Win situation! Two students were awarded the Pinkie Prize mystery grab for outstanding behavior. They earned lunch with their teacher!! Mrs. Torres was able to enjoy amazing lunch dates 2 days in a row! Keep up the great work ladies!
Kindergarten and 7th and 8th-grade buddies had fun sharing riddles they wrote about their favorite winter animals.
Mrs. Wood and her students have been hard at work! They worked on "word families." If they get done with all of their work early, they can choose a spot in the title room to relax and read for enjoyment for the last few minutes of class!
